November is usually a month that sees a lot of people enjoying the outdoors. With the post Diwali haze refusing to lift, Delhi-ites have had no other option but stay indoors.
Hiding is neither an option nor an excuse to cheat on fitness. So, here are 7 ways to combat air pollution and remain fit:
1. Time your workouts
Head out at times when the air density is low, like early mornings or late afternoons, to avoid excessive smog.
If that is not possible, mask it, and continue with your exercise regimen.
2. Exploit the Indoors
Do free hand exercises, like Lunges, Squats and Planks, from the comfort of your home. These exercises will help you keep your body in shape without stressing over the smog outside.
3. Take the Yogic path
Pull out your Yoga mats and ascend on a spiritual journey to fitness.
Do breathing exercises like Pranayams to empower your lungs to take on the smog.
4. Green up your house!
Invest in an in-house garden. If space is a concern add small plants to your balconies and terraces to enable the flow of cleaner air.
5. Multitask
Take up those household chores, like cleaning, that you have been ignoring for a while now and voila you have burned some more calories.
Ditch the elevator and take the stairs to double it up as an exercise.
6. Shake it up!
Engage in fun ways of exercising like Dancing and Pilates, along with being a stress buster they will burn all those extra calories.
7. Map Green Spaces around
Identify parks and gardens close to you for your outdoor workout sessions.
