Fitness is a lot like fashion. Every year it comes with trends. Some fade into obscurity whereas others stand the test of time and are later praised for shaping the industry. The ones standing out are called game changers of the field. We picked up a chat with Ashish Gupta, Director, Gold’s Gym, Gurgaon, to talk about the trends which will rule fitness regime of this season.
He explains, “Treadmills and Steppers could easily become a thing of the past. There will be a lot of innovation even within closed doors. Wearable technology and apps will also be one of the most opted things, where people will rely more on machines than on themselves.”
Here we list out the five innovative trends taking inputs from Gupta.
Nature Workout
Known as Naturefit, it is an attempt at getting members out from the closed gym area to under the open air. Exercising under the open air will be the in thing again as it was earlier during the days but with renovated workout routines and hurdles. It will sweat the body and yet bring about a positive blood flow to each and every corner of the body and thereby rejuvenate muscles and tissues. This activity is picking up momentum and will be one of the most happening things this year.
Masala BhangrA
Making you groove on bhangra while you sweat out your fat? How fun does it sound? Interestingly this is what it is. A pure desi style of grooving and losing weight is what this workout is. It allows people to unleash their wild and positive side, which in turn helps them lose the unwanted fat.
RIP 60
This form of exercise routine is quite popular in gymnasiums outside India. A body weighted suspension-style of training; this method consists of hundreds of both off and on-strap movements and relies upon the users’ body weight for resistance. Sounds easy? Wait until you try it.
Battle Rope
A form of exercise originally developed for combat sports, this form of an exercise is steadily making it to mainstream. Heavy rope training (or rope battling) is ruling a lot of in house workout routine and is quite famous amongst the on screen stars and glitterati.
Plyometrics
Plyometrics, also known as ‘jump training’ or ‘plyos’, is a special form of exercise which concentrates on exerting the muscles using maximum force within short intervals of time. With a goal of increasing power also known as speed-strength within the body, this form of an exercise is also going to catch up speed in the coming year.
